ANYTIME MINUTES

I just received an offer from my cellular phone company to upgrade my "anytime minutes" and as an added bonus, I would receive 2,500 night and weekend minutes "free." Well, it certainly isn't free. Yes, the add says, I can have it all plus a "free" phone. All I have to do is agree to another two year contract!

Well, the anytime minutes are nice. On my plan, one can talk "anytime" day or night, weekdays included for about three hours a month. Though it is tempting to get those extra "weekend" minutes, I don't think I'm ready to sign another contract. Two years is a fair commitment of time and money. I don't know if I'm ready to pay two years for all that "free" stuff!

Isn't it great comfort to know that because of the price Someone else paid, we have free access to God in prayer--anytime! I have always liked the passage which some have identified as God's telephone number-Jeremiah 33-3, "Call to me and I will answer you." Equally encouraging was a statement made once by the late Richard Rogers when in a sermon he encouraged his listeners about the need to talk to God. He said, "if you're bothered about something and can't sleep, then, talk to God, he's been up all night anyway!" The Psalmist teaches, "he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep,"-Psalm 121:4.

God will listen to those who call on Him, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week...anytime minutes...and these are for free! Really!
