LOOKING FOR LIFE?

Where do you find life? I mean, the commercials on television and other mass media send a message to us that life is to be found in sex, booze and a great assortment of things and places that promise fulfillment; the good life!

Ross Brodfuehoer in Charting Your Course includes a survey of thousands of people and shares this list of "The Ten Most Popular Places People Look for Life." They are as follows:

  1. A Physical/Romantic Relationship
  2. A Professional Position
  3. A well-furnished house and wallet
  4. A close-knit family
  5. Sensual indulgence (food, sex, artificial stimulants)
  6. Dieting, appearance, attire
  7. Distractions (hobbies, sports)
  8. Church membership
  9. Being in shape and fit
  10. Music, meditation, & relaxation
As one considers the above list, he or she will quickly see that some of them are better than others. Some are shallow and empty views of "life." Any of these, in and of themselves, are temporary at best, aren't they?

What a contrast to Jesus' view of life. He is the One who said, "I came that they may have life and have it to the full."-John 10:10. He also prayed that people would seek life in the right places; "Now this is eternal life; that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."-John 17:3.

So you see, the world in its wisdom knows not God, but Christians understand that true life, life with eternal quality, is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ and their Heavenly Father!
