Our minister, John Poole, was born and raised in Texas. He began studying the Bible full time in 2000 when he enrolled in the Sunset International Bible Institute, in Lubbock, TX. After he completed his studies at Sunset in 2002, John enrolled in Lubbock Christian University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Ministry in 2004.

During his time in Sunset and L.C.U., he made several trips to Bogotá, Colombia, where he worked with one of the congregations in that city. It was in Bogotá that he met his wonderful wife, Johanna, with whom he has been happily married since June, 2004.

After completing his studies, John and Johanna moved to Palm Harbor, FL in 2005, where he began full time work with the Palm Harbor Church of Christ. Wanting to move closer to family, John began seeking a new church home back in Texas where he came into contact with the Elgin Church of Christ. He began working with us in September, 2008 and is looking forward to a wonderfully long relationship with both the church and the community.
